What Does a Session Cost in Ontario in 2026? Price Benchmarks by Service

Typical private-pay price ranges in Ontario for physiotherapy, therapy, chiropractic, massage, dental, eye care and more, plus how to lower them.

Receipts and a calculator on a desk

Health care prices in Ontario are hard to find. Many clinics do not list fees online, and what you pay depends on where you live and who you see. This guide gives general ranges so you can tell whether a quote is typical. These are rough private-pay figures and should be confirmed with each clinic.

Typical ranges

ServiceTypical private fee
Physiotherapy (per visit)$90 to $130
Registered psychotherapist or social worker (per session)$100 to $180
Psychologist (per session)$180 to $300+
Chiropractic (per visit)$60 to $110
Registered massage therapy (60 minutes)$90 to $140
Dental check-up and cleaning$150 to $300
Eye exam (adults 20 to 64, where not covered)$90 to $150
Dietitian (initial visit)$100 to $180
Naturopathic doctor (initial visit)$150 to $250

Large cities and downtown areas often cost more. First visits are often higher than follow-ups.

What drives the price

  • Location and rent
  • The clinician’s experience
  • Session length
  • Extras such as imaging, equipment or tests
  • Whether the clinic bills insurers directly

What OHIP does and does not cover

OHIP generally covers doctor visits and some eye exams for specific groups, such as children, seniors and people with certain conditions. It does not cover most adult dental, psychotherapy with private practitioners, chiropractic, massage therapy or naturopathy. It covers physiotherapy only for certain groups and settings. Check Ontario’s current rules before assuming.

Ways to lower the bill

  • Ask about reduced fees. See our scripts.
  • Use your benefits fully, and check your yearly limits.
  • Look at teaching clinics for dental, eye care, chiropractic and therapy.
  • Compare two or three clinics.
  • Ask about payment plans for larger dental work.
  • Claim eligible costs on your taxes.

Using this guide

Treat ranges as a reference, not a rule. If a quote is much higher, ask why. If it is much lower, check registration and that it covers the full service. Neither is automatically a problem.

We update these ranges from time to time. Prices change, so please confirm before you book.
